Spring Harvest
23 of our congregation made the trip up to Skegness to take part in Spring Harvest. As well as being great fun it was an amazing experience to share in the fellowship of around 5000 other Christians from all over the country. The music was fabulous; the speakers were inspiring and the whole experience was truly uplifting.
Hoay Maw Children's Home, Thailand
The children's groups collected money for a really special cause
-
They raised money for the Hoay Maw Children's Home, which is located in Thailand, close to the border with Burma (Myanmar).
Hoay Maw Children's Home provides shelter and care for many children who are orphans or refugees, saves them from the threat of being trafficked and gives them hope and training for the future.

Walk with me
Work with me
Watch how I do it
I’ll walk in learning shoes
Learning from the master
I’ll walk in learning shoes
Learning from the King
I’ll walk in living shoes
Christ in all my living
I’ll walk in living shoes
Christ in all my life
I’ll walk in growing shoes
Growing strong in Jesus
I’ll walk in growing shoes
Growing strong in Him
I’ll walk in working shoes
Faith and works for Jesus
I’ll walk in working shoes
Faith and works for Him.
The theme for Spring Harvest 2009 was
Apprentice
walking the way of God
Come to me,
learn from me;
for I am gentle and
humble in heart...
Matthew 11:29
Jesus’ first followers were real apprentices.
But if a disciple is an apprentice, then their learning must be deeper and wider than simply of texts to be understood.
Jesus’ apprentice disciples learnt from him through observation, imitation, trial and error, formation of habits and skills, reflection on why things happened the way they did and what could be done differently next time.
An apprentice learns from their teacher, as well as with other apprentices, not just from the textbook, but primarily through practice, misunderstanding, mistakes, failure, setback, debate, success and more practice.
And, although this kind of active learning is a challenging task, when it is not done, learners remain dependent and inevitably their learning is stunted.
In 2009, at Spring Harvest we learnt how to respond to
this challenge as we explored the theme of
Apprentice – Walking in the Way of Christ.
